Empowering Children: Guardians of Education and Well-being
In the heart of Dharwad, Shekhargouda Ramatnal, a sentinel for child rights, sounded an alarm: negligence in adhering to the Right to Education (RTE) Act of 2009 and Child Protection Policy would no longer be tolerated. He urged officials to prioritize these mandates, declaring that the Commission would hold accountable those who failed to safeguard our children’s futures.
At the Dharwad Teachers’ Training Centre, Ramatnal ignited a flame of responsibility in the teaching community. “Protect our children in schools,” he implored. “Embed the Child Protection Policy in every institution, ensuring every student is shielded from harm.” He emphasized the need to educate parents about RTE provisions, ensuring they understand the paramount importance of education.
“Fill vacant positions with guest teachers,” said Ramatnal. “Reach out to children who have slipped through the cracks of education, and bring them back into the fold. Visit homes, understand their challenges, and empower parents with knowledge about government schemes.”
Neeta Wadkar, District Child Protection Officer, echoed Ramatnal’s sentiments. “Child protection is intertwined with education. It’s our collective duty to shield vulnerable children and guide them towards a brighter tomorrow.”
Educational leaders shared progress updates, pledging to implement the revised 2023 Child Protection Policy in all schools by March. Their commitment ignited a beacon of hope for a future where education and protection go hand in hand, empowering our children to thrive.
