ASUS VIVOBOOK S15 OLED REVIEW: an excellent 15 -inch portable computer

0:00

Asus was one of the first laptop manufacturers to join the Snapdragon X Elite car. When Qualcomm announced the new chip for laptops and showed all its capabilities, Asus jumped on board and introduced the vivobook S15 OLED (S5507). He is the first vivobook to come with the chipset, and Asus claims an impressive performance in an elegant factor. I spent a couple of days trying the laptop to find out if the statements were true, and this is what I discovered.

Our review unit, which has 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage, has a price of RS. 1,24,990 in the country, and comes in a fresh silver color.

ASUS VIVOBOOK S15 OLED DESIGN: Elegant and thin

  • Dimensions – 352.6 mm (width) x 226.9 mm (depth) x 14.7-15.9 mm (height)
  • Weight – 1.42 kg
  • Colors – Fresh Silver

The new Vivobook S15 OLED resembles the Intel Core Ultra model, but will notice some changes. It is still a very clean design with a minimum style, which I liked a lot. You will find the new Vivobook logo on the lid and another logo in the lower bevel of the screen. The laptop is 14.7 mm in its thinnest, has slightly curved edges and weighs around 1.42 kg. Asus has used a totally metallic construction, but you will see some flexion in the lid and the keyboard area.

The laptop cover can be opened with one hand

The hinges feel durable, are not staggering and support the 180 degree movement. You can also lift the lid using a hand. There are also many available ports. You will find two type A USB ports on the right side, an HDMI 2.1, double C USB type, microSD card slot and a 3.5 mm audio connector on the left side. The rear houses the exhaust ventilation grilles, and you will find many admission cuts at the bottom, along with the dual speaker grilles.

ASUS VIVOBOOK S15 OLED screen: colorful and bright indoors

  • Size – 15.6 -inch OLED
  • Resolution – 3K (2880 x 1620 pixels)
  • Update speed – 120Hz

The opening of the lid reveals a colorful OLED screen, which offers a 3K resolution, HDR support and an 120Hz update rate with up to 600 brightness nits. While the screen is brilliant, it is ideal to see content or edit photos, as you get deep blacks and bright colors. The laptop offers a decent shine inside, but I would have liked it to be taller. In outdoor use, I found the inadequate brightness, mainly because the panel is brilliant and reflective.

The hinge allows you to place the flat laptop

The screen has super screaming bevels on the sides, with the upper and lower bevels also quite thin. Asus also states that the panel is Tüv Rheinland and SGS Eye Case Display certified. The fast update rate makes the screen better to see.

Asus Vivobook S15 Tequeblo Oled, Pad Touche, speakers and web cameras

  • Keyboard: Full size ergosense with RGB background light from an area
  • Sound – Dual speakers with Dolby Atmos
  • Webcam – FHD camera go with a privacy shutter

The Vivobook S15 OLED obtains a full -size gum keyboard with RGB backlight from an area. There is some gap between the keys; They offer 1.7 mm travel. It is a comfortable keyboard to write. However, I did not find the backlight too bright despite the keyboard that offers three levels of brightness control. Silver keys are not very legible during the day. You can change the color of the background light with the mystas application. The arrow keys are also quite small, and since this is a co -pilot+ PC, you will get a dedicated co -pilot key.

The keys offer a good trip, but they are not very legible because they are silver

Under the keyboard there is a large and slightly out of the center. It admits multitactile gestures, it is soft to use and offers good touch comments. It is a good touch panel and had no complaints at all.

Upon reaching the audio on the laptop, you obtain dual dual shooting speakers on each side that have Harmon Kardon certification. They can be listed, but there are not many bass. The voices are clear, there is no tearing in every volume, and Dolby Atmos support offers a good surround experience when watching videos and movies.

The manual privacy shutter is good to have

The webcam is a complete webcam with a physical privacy shutter, which is good to have. The webcam matrix also has a IR sensor for Windows Hello and a microphone. Quality is good in brilliantly illuminated rooms for video and photos. However, little light conditions will bring a lot of noise.

ASUS VIVOBOOK S15 OLED SOFTWARE: BASIC WITH SOME AI

  • OS – Windows 11 Start
  • AI characteristics: co -pilot, live subtitles, caretor, retreat
  • OTHER APPLICATIONS – MYSUS

The Vivobook S15 OLED S5507 is a co -pilot+ PC, which means that it has access to some AI features, such as live subtitles, car and Windows Studio effects. The characteristics such as the controversial retirement have not yet launched, so I could not try them. You also get a super resolution of AI that is said to improve the game experience, but I really did not directed any game on the laptop.

Cooking is a tool in Microsoft Paint that can complete its unfinished art using real time. It works, but not as well as I expected, but that is probably due to my drawing skills. The live subtitles function is more useful, since it provides real -time subtitles for all types of audio content. Finally, the characteristics of Windows Studio Effects are designed to help you have a better video experience.

The laptop run Windows 11 at home outside the box

There are not many stare applications incorporated. Obtain the MYSUS application, which will need to control various system settings, install firmware updates, choose fan profiles and change the background backlight.

In terms of general software experience, the ARM platform has a long way to go in terms of application compatibility. While browsers, media players, media players, social applications, editing tools, office tools and more commonly used coding programs, some rare applications are still in beta.

ASUS VIVOBOOK S15 OLED PERFORMANCE: SOLID

  • Processor-napdragon x elite x1e-78-100
  • RAM – 16GB LPDDR5X
  • Storage: Up to 1 TB PCIE 4.0
  • Graphics – Qualcomm Adreno Gpu

Going to performance, the laptop does a good job with most productivity applications, even when running in a balanced power profile. However, opening more than a dozen tabs on Google Chrome resulted in Hippo. I think this has more to do with the system that runs without ram usable than the Snapdragon X Elite chip. In a complete performance profile, the processor can obtain up to 50 W, which is enough to execute all types of productivity applications, editing tools and transmission applications.

ASUS VIVOBOOK S15 REVIEW5 ASUSVOVOBOBOOS15 ASUS

The laptop offers 16 GB of RAM, but it is not enough for resource intensive tasks

The laptop was heated a little to the touch when executing a couple of reference points, but nothing that does not use it. Even when it was heated, it was mainly the upper section of the keyboard around the functions row.

Benchmark Score
Geekbench 6 single 2,331
Geekbench 6 Multi 13,739
Geekbench AI NPU (quantified) 21,978
Stain brand 1,103

As you can see, the laptop obtains quite good scores in Geekbench and CrossMark. There are a couple of games that you can play in the arm chipset, but don’t expect much. Fans did not turn on during daily use, which included using the laptop to work, watch YouTube videos and some photo editing. However, during heavy use, fans lit, but they were not strong enough to distract him. You listen to fans on the full trip only when you run heavy applications. The storage unit of 1 TB incorporated worked well in my tests.

ASUS VIVOBOOK S15 OLED BATERY: A good good

  • Capacity – 70 Wh
  • Loader – 90W adapter

The battery life is supposed to be the most point of using the arm chips set, and seems to be true, although it is nothing close to what Asus states. With normal use, the laptop easily lasts a full day of work. This is with the brightness established at about 50 percent and the power profile established to balance. Add some YouTube and Netflix transmission, and then the battery life falls a little, but you can still call it all day the battery life. The surprising thing is the power raffle when the laptop is in suspension mode. Thanks to the efficiency of the Snapdragon X Elite elite chipset, you can close the lid and not have to worry about a crazy power raffle.

ASUS VIVOBOOK S15 REVIEW2 ASUSVIVOBOBOOS15 ASUS

There are four yield profiles available in the Mystas application

The 90W feed adapter also makes loading the battery fast. An hour of loading can offer up to 80 percent battery, with a complete load that has been carrying about 1 hour and 20 minutes.

ASUS VIVOBOOK S15 OLED VERDICT

This is what happens with the Vivobook S15 OLED S5507 of Asus. With a price of RS. 1,24,990, the laptop is not cheap, and competes with laptops such as Apple MacBook Air 15. Although it can give the APPLE portable computer a battle when it comes to battery and design duration, it falls short in the category performance due to being limited to 16 GB of RAM in India.

However, if performance is not the most important thing for you and will use it mainly for work that does not imply a heavy video edition, then this is a large laptop to obtain. That said, it is not that this laptop cannot do things. There is a beautiful OLED screen that is ideal for content consumption, design is an advantage and you also get a great battery life. In general, it is an excellent 15 -inch laptop.
