Washington:

Meta has agreed to pay President Donald Trump $ 25 million to resolve a 2021 lawsuit that presented alleging that he was unfairly censored on Facebook and Instagram after the disturbances of the United States Capitol, the company said Wednesday.

The Wall Street Journal first reported the settlement of the lawsuit filed against Meta and its executive director Mark Zuckerberg, in what was seen as a victory for Trump.

According to people familiar with the agreement, said the Journal, $ 22 million of the payment will be used to finance the future presidential library of Trump, and the rest covers legal fees and payments to other plaintiffs in the case.

Goal in the agreement will not admit irregularities about the suspensions of Trump’s accounts.

A Meta spokesman confirmed the agreement to AFP.

Trump had widely criticized social media platforms for suspending his accounts after the insurrection of January 6, 2021 by his supporters, and the comments that made them considered as praising the people involved in violence.

But he has recently courted the technological titans, including Zuckerberg and the owner of X, Elon Musk, who attended Trump’s presidential inauguration last week in Washington.

Zuckerberg has expressed his support for Trump, and has modified the goal policies to raise restrictions to some content within the company’s applications, which include Facebook, Instagram, Threads and WhatsApp.

Meta would be “restoring free expression on our platforms,” said Zuckerberg, who allegedly dined Trump on his Florida farm in November, this month by announcing a reversal of fact verification operations.

The agreement is the last arch of media corporations, as they make fun of a second presidency of Trump.

In December, ABC News agreed to pay a liquidation payment of $ 15 million to resolve a defamation demand presented by Trump derived from the comments in the air on it made by a superior anchor.

Early Wednesday, Meta informed that his net income shot at 59 percent to $ 62.36 billion for the whole year.
