After fighting to enter the recently completed T20I series of five games, the young all-terrain of England, Jacob Bethell, gave a good account of himself in the Odi-Opener against India in Nagpur. The 21 -year -old reached half a century on Thursday, and also grabbed Shreyas Iyer’s precious scalp. Bethell will go to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy at the end of this month, before returning to India in March to test the first premier league league in India. For not versed, Bethell was collected by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for RS 2.2 million rupees at the IPL 2025 Mega auction.
Speaking after the first hate, Bethell said he hopes to join the franchise and revealed all the love he has been receiving from RCB fans since his signature.
“RCB is a great franchise, and I have felt love here. Each land in which I have been, as soon as I walk to the field, begin to sing: RCB, RCB. There is definitely much support.” Bethell told Daily Mail.
After meeting Kohli for the first time, Bethell opened the opportunity to play with former RCB captain. “Playing together with players like that would be really great,” he added.
Bethell considers himself as an adequate SUV, and could be useful for England and RCB for the next three months or so.
“As soon as you play against someone, you realize that you are playing the same game and can make the same mistakes you can. It’s just that those boys obviously improved a lot not to make mistakes,” Bethell explained.
“I see myself as a genuine all -terrain. Every time I have the opportunity to play and say my claim, and put ourselves in a good position, I will. It is a massive part of my package.”
The captain of England, Jos Buttler, was full of praise for Bethell, who has already represented England in the three formats.
“I was watching it hit and saying ‘I couldn’t remember how to hit at 21’, it took me until I was about 28 years old, I think! I am really happy with him. It was not easy in the begins but he was very mature, measured, he soaked some pressure and made a really mature entrance of him.
Meanwhile, England lost the 1st hate for 4 wickets. The second game will be played on Sunday.
