Two of the best players of all time, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi dominated the global football spectrum for about 15 years. The two not only swept most of the team’s awards with their clubs, but also shone in the individual care center. Ronaldo, in an interview with the La Sexta Spanish store, admitted that he used to feel distressed when he saw Messi beat him in the award on certain occasions. But he has learned to process emotion in a healthier way, saying that the Ballon d’Or prize has lost its credibility.
During the interview, Ronaldo also reiterated his position at Ballon d’Or of 2024, saying that Real Madrid striker, Vinicius Jr.
“There is no credibility, Vinicius should be the winner of the Golden Ball. I have felt it many times and I felt angry. I understood it over time, these are battles that you cannot win,” he said.
“Something often has to happen to you for you to like everything you have happened. I am such a competitive person that sometimes I forget what I have achieved. If someone else was in my position, I would have left football 10 years ago.
Ronaldo also declared himself as the absolute ‘goat’ of the game, saying that he has not seen anyone as good as himself, despite the fact that some people may prefer Messi, Pelé or even Diego Maradona.
“The taste is one thing, say this, that or that, whether you prefer Messi, Pelé or Maradona, I listen and respect it, but say that Cristiano is not complete is a lie. I am the most complete. I don’t see anyone better than me and I tell you that with all my heart, ”he said.
