President Donald Trump said Thursday that “soldiers would not be needed by the United States” in his Gaza proposal, days after he announced that the United States could “take over” and “possess” the Gaza Strip.
“The United States soldiers would not be needed! The stability for the region would reign!” He said in a morning post on his real social platform.
Earlier this week, Donald Trump had announced while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was visiting that “the United States will take over the Gaza Strip.”
“We will also do a job with him. We will possess it,” he told the audible gasps during the press conference, offering few details about how the United States could eliminate more than two million Palestinians or control the territory hit by war. .
His administration seemed to go back on this proposal on Wednesday after facing a wave of criticism of Palestinians, Arab governments and world leaders.
Trump’s secretary of state, Marco Rubio, said the idea “was not destined to be hostile,” while the White House said there was no commitment to send US troops.
In his Thursday morning, Donald Trump said that “the Gaza Strip would be delivered to the United States by Israel at the end of the fight.”
He added that the Palestinians “would have already been resettled in much safer and more beautiful communities, with new and modern houses, in the region.”
