President Trump urged Russia to spare Ukrainian soldiers he claimed were “completely surrounded,” as US envoy Steve Witkoff discussed a 30-day ceasefire with Putin in Moscow. Trump called the talks “very good and productive.” Putin responded by urging Ukrainian troops in Kursk to surrender for humane treatment. The Kremlin confirmed additional signals were sent to Trump. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed “cautious optimism” on a truce, while Ukraine’s Zelensky called Putin’s stance “very manipulative.” n18oc_crux
