A 73 -year -old woman was found dead at her home in the town of Muthanoor in Yelagiri Hills, near the city of Jolarpet, in Tiverupattur, Wednesday.
Police said the deceased was identified as C. Kantha, an agricultural worker. After her husband S. Pachaiappan died in 2017, Kantha lived alone. She has three children, who lived in neighboring Aldea de Athanavur in the hills.
His son, P. Suresh, 49, a farmer, used to visit his mother regularly. Kantha also used to go to her son’s cultivation lands to supervise the work of the farm in the rice field and spend time there until night.
As she did not come home, Suresh went to her mother’s house, where she found her lying in a pool of blood with head injuries. Upon hearing their shout, the neighbors rushed to the house and informed the police.
Missing jewels
The initial investigation revealed that five sovereigns of gold jewelry, silver objects and a television objects in the house were missing.
The body was sent to the Medical College and Government Hospital in Velore for an autopsy.
Special equipment has been formed to investigate the case.
