New Delhi:
With the Supreme Court to complete 75 years on Tuesday, a ceremonial bank of the 34 judges, including the president of the Supreme Court of India (CJI) Sanjiv Khanna, will meet in the courtroom 1 at 3.30 pm to commemorate the year of the jubilee of diamonds.
The procedures of the ceremonial bank will also be broadcast live, according to a circular issued by the registrar of the MAHEH T Patankar Court.
A ceremonial bank met similarly in 2000, when the Superior Court had completed 50 years.
The Supreme Court, which is the Apex judicial agency, was established on January 26, 1950, with the validity of the Indian Constitution. However, it was inaugurated two days after India became a republic.
The inauguration took place in the Princes Chamber of the former Parliament building, where the Federal Court of India sat for 12 years from 1937 to 1950, according to the information available on the official website of the Superior Court.
The inaugural process was attended by the first CJI, Harilal J. Kania and Judges Saiyid Fazl Ali, M. Patanjali Sastri, Mehr Chand Mahajan, Bijan Kumar Mukherjea and Sr das.
The Supreme Court worked from the former house of Parliament until it moved to the current building in Tilak Marg, New Delhi, in 1958. The first president of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, inaugurated the current building on August 4, 1958 .
On January 28 of last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the celebration of the Diamond Jubilee in the Auditorium of the Supreme Court. He also launched information and technology initiatives centered on the citizen that include reports from the Digital Supreme Court (DIGI SCR), Digital Courts 2.0 and a new website of the Superior Court.
“Either freedom of expression, personal freedom or social justice, the Supreme Court has strengthened the vibrant democracy of India,” said Prime Minister Modi.
