According to the mayor of the city, at least three people were killed in a fire that exploded in a retirement house near Paris, according to the mayor of the city.
Eight other people were injured in the fire in the residence located in the city of Bouffemont.
“This is a serious event for our city,” said Mayor Michel Lacoux. “It seems to have been an accident.”
Lacoux said the fire was under control in the residence, which was home to 75 elderly residents.
Speaking to BFM TV, he said it is believed that the fire began in a laundry and extended part of the third floor of the building.
Commander Adrien Ponin-Sainapalle, spokesman for the France Civil Defense Agency, said the fire was extinguished after 140 firefighters were deployed on the scene.
