New York:
The leaders of the SIJS community have said that there have been no raid in Gurdwaras that contradict reports in some Indian media.
Sukhjinder Singh Nijjar, who was in Richmond Hill Gurdwara in New York, an important SIJ center, said Sunday that prayer services were carried out reverently and that no one had no interference.
Nor were there rates or actions to apply the law in other Gurdwaras in New York and New Jersey, said Nijjar, who is with the Sikh cultural society that represents the northeast coastal and was the president of his public and media committee.
He attributed the evil informed to “some kind of misunderstanding and lack of communication” and “basically, in fact, basically the type of mouth that” extends without a base.
Rajwant Singh, president of the Sikh Council of Religion and Education, ruled out the reports of the raids or visits to the temples for immigration or other agencies.
The SIJ community in New York and New Jersey has good relations at “all levels of government representatives, including the Department of Justice and the White House,” he said.
The community has “contributed immensely to local life and has helped many people during Covid and the service continues” and that is appreciated, said Singh.
Nijjar said that Gurdwaras has good relations with government agencies and his own temple, for example, celebrates regular meetings with officials visiting Gurdwara’s invitation to discuss community issues.
The administration of President Donald Trump retired a policy against immigration officers who enter churches or schools to make arrests last week.
The National Security Department (DHS) said: “Criminals may no longer hide in the United States schools and churches to avoid arrest.”
Although he only mentioned the churches, which have been convicted by Christian organizations, other religions have also expressed concern about their broader ramifications.
The American Legal Education and Defense Fund (SALDEF), like many other religious and civil rights organizations, has condemned the change in policy.
Expressing a deep alarm about the change, the Executive Director of Saledef, Kiran Kaur Gill, said: “Attack these spaces for application actions threatens the holiness of our faith and sends a chilling message to immigrant communities throughout the country” .
However, US officials have not made raids in churches or other places of worship under the new policy.
Immigration and Customs Control (ICE), the agency that carries out raids, did not mention in its press releases any weekend raid in New York and New Jersey.
