The Tamil Nadu Forest Department has made arms orders worth ₹ 5 million rupees to modernize force, especially to satisfy the need for rifles for the recent decision of the Government of regulated sacrifice of wild boars.
Srinivas R. Reddy, main conservative Forest Chief (PCCF) and head of the Forest Force, said The Hindu that orders for 123 rifles (.315 rifles) of the artillery factory in Western Bengal to be used for wild boar sacrifice have been made.

The acquisition of ₹ 5 million rupees also includes 19 guns (9 mm guns) as part of the modernization of the department weapons. Weapons and ammunition were being delivered, he said.
According to him, the order of .315 rifles was in addition to other models of rifles that are already available in the armament of the department in their forest divisions. The existing armament includes Gock 17 guns, revolvers, .410, rifles .315, bolt action rifles and 7.62 rifles.

On Tuesday, the Forestry Department organized a one -day training session for 91 Forestry and Forest Guards at the Tamil Nadu Forest Academy (TNFA) in Coimbatore as the first training training phase for the force sacrifice program for the wild boar . The participants were sensitized about the Government’s order (GO) about the controlled sacrifice of wild pigs, their behavior and other aspects. The special task force and police staff gave them shot in the Madukkarai shooting field at night.
“The training will continue in all the circles of the forest. The staff of all forest divisions will be sensitized and trained to handle different scenarios, ”he said.
For the capture of wild boars, which are within the 3 km radius of the forest limit according to the GO, the department will obtain capture equipment in addition to the sets available with it.
