New Delhi:
The Superior Court of Delhi refused on Wednesday to listen to a petition presented by a former trial, Judge Sn Dhingra, against the gifts promised by the AAP, BJP and Congress before the Delhi elections last week.
In his complaint, Judge Dhingra claimed that such promises by political parties were equivalent to “corrupt practices”, as under the law of representation of people. He sought instructions to the Electoral Commission to investigate these promises and declare them “unconstitutional”, and also sought instructions to prevent parties from collecting personal voters and sharing them with third parties.
However, he addressed the petitioner to approach the Supreme Court. This was after the Electoral Commission told the Superior Court that a similar case is already pending in that forum.

Supreme Court in Gifts
Meanwhile, almost simultaneously, in the Supreme Court a hearing linked to the practice of the gifts of the political parties before the elections were held.
A bank from Judge Br Gavai and Judge Augustine George Masih pointed out the prevalence of such measures before the elections, and observed: “Unfortunately … people (now) are not willing to work due to these gifts.” “They are getting free rations and money without doing any work,” the court said.
The court listened to a case about the right to take refuge of homeless in urban areas.
The court was said attorney general R Venkataramani, which appears for the center, that the eradication mission of urban poverty, which is supposed to address such problems, will be ended soon.
This case will be heard again after six weeks.
Also in December last year, the Supreme Court asked some serious questions about the viability of electoral gifts, since it urged the government to create job opportunities for migrant workers who have been receiving free portions from the Covid pandemic. A bank from Judge Surya Kant and Judge Manmohan was surprised when they were told that 81 million rupees are still being released or subsidized.
