Singapore:
The rapper of Indian origin, Subhas Nair, began on Wednesday his mandate in the six -week prison for trying to promote the will between racial and religious groups through online positions in Singapore multiethnic.
The 32 -year -old Singapurense, whose full name is Subhas Govin Prabhakar Nair, appealed against his conviction and sentence before Judge Hoo Sheau Peng for two days from last year.
The Superior Court had dismissed its appeals, the Channel News Asia reported.
To try to promote feelings of bad will between racial or religious groups, Nair could have been imprisoned up to three years, fined or both.
In a brief oral decision, Judge Hoo said he agreed with the decision of the lower court on conviction and sentence, adding that the term of the six -week prison “was not disproportionate or overwhelming.”
Nair was convicted of four positions by a district court in 2023 after a trial. The charges were about racially loaded statements made between July 2019 and March 2021.
They relate to a YouTube video where he and his sister, Preeti Nair, performed a song with racist lyrics.
While the police gave him a two -year conditional warning to the video, he reincidated to publish racial comments on social networks.
Nair wrote that “calling Racism and Chinese privilege” matched a two -year conditional warning and “smear campaign in the media”, while “conspiring to kill an Indian man” matched half of the prayer and a Made of “Are you having a baby soon, right?
Later, Nair conducted a play in which he showed a hand -drawn replica related to Chan Jia Xing.
A district judge finally sentenced Nair to the prison period proposed by the six -week prosecutor’s office in September 2023, which resulted in this appeal.
