The nationwide protests against the religious authorities of Iran caused by the death in 2022 of Mahsa Amini have led to “deep changes,” said the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in Iran, Mohammadi.
A 22 -year -old Iranian Kurdish, Amini, died in custody on September 16, 2022, days after the Moral Police arrested him in Teher for an alleged violation of the strict clothing code of the Islamic Republic for women.

Mohammadi, 52, had been in prison for more than three years, but was released in December for a limited period of medical license. His legal team warned that he could be arrested and sent to jail at any time.
He won the Nobel Peace Prize 2023 in recognition of his two decades for human rights in the Islamic Republic and strongly supported the protests caused by Amini’s death.
“Life in prison is practically impossible. I spent my prayer in lone confinement, in a very small space, with three walls and a door, with nothing more, “said Mohammadi, who spoke in Farsi and was flanked by a photo of Amini.
When asked if he felt that his activism had been worth the price he has paid, Mohammadi said that if he returned in time, “it would certainly do the same, even if he had to pay a higher price.”
