NEW YORK – The former New Jersey senator, Bob Menéndez, was sentenced to 11 years in prison on Wednesday afternoon in a lower court in Manhattan.
Menéndez, 71, was condemned last July in 16 charges of bribery, extortion, conspiracy and obstruction of justice.

“I have dedicated my whole life to the service of others,” he added. “I am far from being a perfect man, but I believe in my half century of public service, I have done rather than bad.”
Menéndez, who had served as an American senator since 2006, resigned last August. His seat was Andy Kim.
