A 29 -year -old man died almost a month after serious burns of a Mass explosion of fireworks in Hawaii.
The man, to whom the authorities have not identified, became the fifth person to die in the New Year’s Eve incident in an Honolulu house, a spokesman for the Honolulu police department confirmed CBS News on Tuesday. He was among the six victims who recovered in the Arizona Burn Center.
Other victims killed by fireworks included a 3 -year -old boyCassius Ramos-Benigno, and three women, Benigno Carmelita, 61, Nelie Ibarra, 58, and Jennifer Van, 23, CBS Honolulu Affiliate HNN reported.
The Honolulu authorities said that someone who attended a party lit some aerial fireworks that fell on their side, which shot sparks in other boxes containing more fireworks.
More than two dozen people were also injured in the explosion, authorities said.
The incident caused an offensive against illegal fireworks in the state, with governor Josh Green proposing $ 300 tickets to light fireworks, as well as decades of prison time if the use of fireworks causes injuries or death.
