Telangana Government has set up a yarn depot in Sircilla and Vemulawada with a corpus fund of ₹50 crore.

Telangana Budget 2025 LIVE updates

An amount of ₹37.49 crore has been released this year under the 10% yarn subsidy, covering pending payments for power loom workers from 2018 to 2022, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said in his budget presented in the Assembly on Wednesday. Handloom sector has been allocated ₹371 crores in this budget.

He said the Telangana government is implementing the “Chenetha Abhaya Hastham” scheme for the welfare and comprehensive development of handloom and power loom workers in the State. Under this scheme, several initiatives, including Telangana Netanna Podupu (Weavers’ Savings Fund), Telangana Netanna Bhadratha (Weavers’ Insurance), and Telangana Netanna Bharosa (Weavers’ Security), are being executed.

Mr. Vikramarka reiterated Government commitment pointing out that it has has decided to provide two high-quality sarees annually to 64.7 lakh members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) across the State. To support local weavers, the production of these sarees has been exclusively entrusted to the weavers of Telangana.
