On Thursday of the Superior Court of Delhi he put aside the elimination of the director of competence of Taekwondo (DOC) saying that the accusations of corruption against him were not “accompanied by any convincing material.” On Monday, Doc T Praveen Kumar was eliminated by the Technical Behavior Committee of the National Games (GTCC) along with some officials, who were also accused of looking for bribes to fix the results in 10 of the 16 weight categories much earlier that the competition will really begin. It was replaced by S Denh Kumar as Doc.
The Superior Court ruled that “it is not revealed rational to replace the DOC who is not one of the technical officials and does not have a role to play in award accessories.”
“None of these complaints accompany any convincing material and contain naked accusations. It is remarkable that the complaint dated 31.01.2025 refers to certain accusations for the period that extends since 2012,” said the order approved by Judge Sachin Dathta.
The elimination of Kumar on January 31 occurred after “strong recommendations” made by a prevention of manipulation of the competition committee (PMCC) of three members. The president of GTCC, Sunaina Kumari, said that PMCC’s recommendations had been accepted.
The Olympic Association of India (IOA) also supported GTCC’s decision.
The PMCC also suggested to the IOA that at least 50 percent of the nominated technical officials are replaced by properly qualified officials with international or national certification.
The Taekwondo Federation of India (TFI), which is recognized as the National Sports Federation by the Superior Court, presented a petition against the decision of the GTCC and the IOA.
The HC said that the order of January 31 of the GTCC and the IOA “is motivated due to the fact that the defendant Nos.1 (IOA) and 2 (GTCC) do not recognize the petitioner (TFI) as the NSF in question. This is It is contrary to the premise of orders dated 24.12.2024 and 31.01.2025 “.
“In the circumstances, the contested decision is reserved as recorded in the email dated 31.01.2025. Taekwondo sport.
“… if something bad is found with the decisions taken by any technical official designated by TFI, the defendant Nos.1 and 2 will have the right to take corrective measures in consultation with the petitioner/applicant.” The court also instructed the TFI to offer total cooperation to the GTCC for this purpose.
“In addition, respondents will have the right to take measures for the disqualification of the players, subject to adhesion with the applicable rules and regulations. With the consent of the respective lawyer, it is also ordered that coaches / support personnel are allowed to accompany / stay close to players, to the feasible extent. ” Interestingly, in an earlier order, the HC had mentioned “peculiar circumstances that surround the sport of Taekwondo in India, where despite the fact that the TFI has been the recognized NSF, the international body (Taekwondo World) has recognized another organization, namely “India Taekwondo” (IT), and a large number of athletes/players participate/compete in the events organized by him, but not in the events organized by TFI “. In Haldwani, where Taekwondo competitions began as of Wednesday, TFI general secretary, RD Mangueshkar, said T Praveen Kumar will take care of Doc since Friday.
“Praveen Kumar will take over Friday. The decision of the Superior Court arrived in the afternoon and nothing could be done today. The competition was held without problems today.
“The athletes should not suffer and we want a good performance of competitions. We will cooperate for the good of athletes and sport,” he told PTI.
While expressing its euphoria in the turn of events, the TFI has also threatened to present cases of defamation against all those who have alleged misconduct by its officials.
