A sniper rifle was among 35 weapons recovered in a series of joint operations by security forces in Manipur since January 19, 2025.

A Defense statement said the Army, paramilitary Assam Rifles and State Police personnel recovered one modified sniper rifle, five 9mm pistols, two single-barreled rifles, grenades, ammunition and war supplies during a raid. operation on the Lungkhongjang ridge. in Bishnupur district on January 19, 2025.

In the second operation carried out by the Army, the Central Reserve Police and police personnel on January 20, several weapons were obtained, including a 9 mm submachine gun, a mortar and a grenade launcher. This operation took place near the Khuga river, on the border between Bishnupur and Churachandpur districts.

In the first of two more operations on January 20, a person associated with outlawed Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup was captured on the India-Myanmar border in Tengnoupal district. In the second, Assam Rifles personnel recovered an improvised projectile launcher, among other weapons, during a search operation at Maoching in Noney district.

On January 23, Assam Rifles personnel recovered some firearms, grenades and ammunition from the general area of ​​Ngamukhong Fungi Ching (Leingangpokpi) in Thoubal district. In another operation with the police, they captured two members of the outlawed Kangleipak ​​Communist Party (People’s War Group) in an area between Heirok of Thoubal and Wangjing.

More weapons, ammunition and war materiel were recovered from an area between Zairawn and Uchatol in Jiribam district on January 23, in Chandel and Imphal West districts on January 24, and in Thangjao Mamang Ching in Kakching district. and Sekmai in Imphal West. district on January 25.

“The success of these operations could be achieved thanks to perfect cooperation between security forces and other law enforcement agencies,” the statement said.
