Shivamogga district administration has appealed to people to take care of their health as mercury levels are going up and heatwave conditions are to prevail in the coming days.
Deputy Commissioner Gurudatta Hegade, in a communique to the public on Saturday, said the Indian Meteorology Department had warned of heatwave conditions up to May. This might lead to changes in weather conditions, affecting health.
He suggested people drink water at regular intervals to keep the body hydrated. Even if one did not feel thirsty, one had to take water. Along with water, they could also take juice and fruits that contain water content.
He advised people to wear cotton clothes and use umbrellas or wear caps to avoid the scorching sun. It is better to avoid going out between 12 noon and 3 p.m., when the temperature would be maximum. He also suggested people avoid carbonated drinks that cause dehydration.
