Washington – The Senate is expected to vote on Tuesday On the confirmation of the former representative Sean Duffy as Secretary of Transportation, with broad expected bipartisan support, as some of the most controversial nominees of President Trump face Confirmation audiences this week.
Duffy, 53, represented Wisconsin in the Senate from 2011 to 2019 and previously served as Ashland County District Prosecutor, Wisconsin. He joined Fox News as a collaborator and organized a program about Fox Business after leaving the Congress, until President Trump announced his selection for the Secretary of Transportation. He and his wife, whom he met in a reality show, have nine children.
The Senate voted unanimously to advance Duffy on Monday night, after he appeared before the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee of the Senate earlier this month. At the audience, it was presented by the two Wisconsin senators: Republican Ron Johnson and Democrat Tammy Baldwin.
“I am sure they are the right person for this work in this next administration,” said Baldwin, and added that Duffy will work with “both sides of the hall to improve our infrastructure and address the challenges that arise in the coming years.”

Duffy said in his opening statement that “transport affects all aspects of life”, promising that with Mr. Trump and the support of Congress, “I hope to introduce an era of gold and travel gold.”
“President Trump is a builder. He wants to invest in the reconstruction of the crushed infrastructure of our nation,” Duffy said, and added that Trump asked him to concentrate on the “large and lasting projects that connect our country and connect to our people”.
Duffy said he would work to reduce the bureaucracy that slows critical infrastructure projects. And promised to prioritize road safety and maintain safety as a priority in aviation. He urged the nation to modernize its systems, committing to work to restore global confidence in Boeing and “make sure our skies are safe.”
“Transport is a new extraordinary era where we are entering,” said Duffy. “We are in a global career to innovate and overcome the rest of the world. If confirmed, we will elaborate clear regulations that balance safety, innovation and avant -garde technology, but always focus on security.”
Duffy has received generalized bipartisan support for confirmation. The leader of the majority of the Senate, John Thune, praised Duffy on Monday as a congressman of five periods and co -president of the task force of the great lakes, who said that “he worked with Republicans and Democrats in the Chamber and the Senate in a series of infrastructure projects. “
“Mr. Duffy brings a valuable experience that will help him manage the extensive transport system of our nation,” said Thune. “And he has an important job ahead of him.”
