Samsung Galaxy S24+ Review: Bigger is better

Samsung Galaxy S24+ Review: Bigger is better

0:00

Samsung’s more variant is the average child in the Galaxy S line that is more likely to be ignored. The Galaxy S24+, for most people, is simply a Galaxy S24 with a larger screen and battery. Most people will pay more and opt for the superior Galaxy S24 Ultra. However, that is not all in the Galaxy S24+. Yes, it presents mainly the same specifications as the Galaxy S24, but bigger is better, what I have noticed after using the S24+ Galaxy+ for approximately one week.

Should you consider the Galaxy S24+ instead of the Galaxy S24 or even the Ultra Galaxy S24? Find out below.

Samsung Galaxy S24+ Price in India

The S24+ galaxy is expensive! It is available in two variants in India: the option of 12 GB + 256 GB, which costs RS. 99,999, and the variant of 12 GB + 512GB, which costs RS. 1.09,999.

Galaxy S24+ admits a fast charge of 45w but does not include a charger

As for color options, the Galaxy S24+ is available at Cobalt Violet and Onyx Black, but you can also get the phone in exclusive finishes such as Sapphire Blue and Jade Green when buying online. We receive the Violent Cobalt option with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage.

The box contains the phone, some documents, a SIM ejector tool and a Type-C USB cable to Type-C.

Samsung Galaxy S24+ 5g Review: Design

In design terms, it is basically a larger Galaxy S24 or a Galaxy S23/Galaxy S22. The design has not changed in recent years, but you get better and stronger materials. Compared to the Galaxy S23+, the new Galaxy S24+ comes with a stronger Armor 2 aluminum frame. Despite the largest footprint compared to the Standard Galaxy S24, the phone is still comfortable to hold in one hand, if you have big hands. It weighs 197 grams, but it is almost the same thickness as the Galaxy S24 at 7.7 mm. The phone feels premium and can be beating (I didn’t try).

The Galaxy S24+ presents an Armor 2 aluminum frame

It obtains thin screen bezels in the front that are uniform everywhere, which are now thinner than last year. There is a cleft at the top for speaker/atrial and an ultrasonic digital fingerprint scanner on the screen. The Galaxy S24+ presents the same protection of Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and IP68 classification found in the smallest brother. On the back, is the family triple camera system, with each camera located in a separate metal ring. The LED flash is next to the three sensors placed vertically, but is placed lower than the Galaxy S23+.

Samsung Galaxy S24+ Revision: Specifications and Software

The only difference between the Galaxy S24+ and the Galaxy S24, when it comes to specifications, is the largest battery. It is equipped with the 4NM Exynos 2400 SOC, together with the XClipse 940 GPU, up to 12 GB of RAM (compared to 8 GB in Galaxy S23+) and up to 512 GB of storage UFS 4.0. There is no expandable storage on the phone. For communication, you get Wi-Fi 6e, NFC, Bluetooth 5.3 Le, a USB type C 3.2 port and the usual GPS satellite support set.

Samsung’s ultrasonic fingerprint reader is also reliable, and I honestly believe that more smartphone brands should use this technology instead of the optical sensor. It is faster and more precise, and I have never faced any problem with him.

Samsung has promised seven years of software updates at the Galaxy S24+

The Galaxy S24+ has a 4,900 mAh battery, much larger than the 4,000 mAh cell in the Galaxy S24 and a little larger than the 4,700 mAh unit in the oldest Galaxy S23+. However, the phone only offers 45W fast charge support and 15W wireless load, which is the same as last year.

What is not the same this year is the promised software support, since Samsung now offers 7 years of Android and security updates. The Galaxy S24+ executes one UI 6.1 based on Android 14 IU 6.1 out of the box. You also get the new set of Galaxy AI functions, which you can read in our revision of the Galaxy S24.

Samsung Galaxy S24+ Review: Performance

Going to performance, the SOC exynos 2400 at the Galaxy S24+ offers flagship performance in all scenarios. If you observe the reference numbers, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy SOC will be superior, but will not notice any difference in the daily use or games. I did some tests at the Galaxy S24+, and its scores were similar to those of the Galaxy S24. In Antutu, the telephone scored 1,457,608 points, and in Geekbench, it achieved a single core score of 1987 and a score of multiple nuclei of 6137. The antutu score was slightly lower than the Galaxy S24 score, but the Geekbench score was higher. This is probably because the Plus model offers a larger area to cool. The results were similar in GFXBENCH.

The screen at the Galaxy S24+ offers a maximum shine of 2,600nits

Now, let’s talk about the screen, which is where you will find the changes. The Galaxy S24+ comes with a slightly larger screen of 6.7 inches compared to the Galaxy S23+ last year (6.6 inches). The screen also receives thinner bezels and is a more brilliant 2x AMOLED LTPO panel with 2,600 maximum brightness nits and QHD+resolution. Continues to offer an update rate of 120 Hz. The screen is quite bright and is easily legible outdoors.

The phone has a dual hybrid speaker configuration, which is noisy and offers decent serious. The call quality is also excellent.

The game at the Galaxy S24+ is an experience similar to games in the smallest S24. All games work in its highest configuration, and will not notice any delay. What can notice is heat. The phone heats up a little for long hours of play. I also found that the phone will quickly heat when running comparative evaluation tests.

The phone warmed up and while playing games

Going to battery performance, the phone managed to last 19 hours and 17 minutes in our HD loop test with the screen resolution established in QHD+. The highest resolution screen is a battery thief, but can obtain a better battery life if it reduces the resolution. With regular use, the phone lasted more than a day easily. However, with heavy use, the phone needed a position at the end of the day. Loading the phone has been wearing a 45W+ charger and a higher rating cable for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. The phone is sent with a 3A classification cable that only admits a fast charge of 25 W. I used a 125W charger for the load test.

Samsung Galaxy S24+ Revision: cameras

The Samsung Galaxy S24+ offers the same chamber configuration as the smallest Galaxy S24, which we have already reviewed. It has a 50 megapixel primary rear camera with OIS, a 10 megapixel teleobjective sensor with 3X optical zoom and an ultra unit of 12 megapixels with 120 degrees FOV. For selfies, it has a 12 megapixel sensor with automatic approach.

The Galaxy S24+ takes excellent photos in daylight conditions

Honestly, there is no difference in photo performance and video between the two phones. However, compared to the Galaxy S23+last year, you will see a little less saturation and more contrast. The ultra width shots are good, but they are not yet obtained by seventh, which leads to some blurred shots, especially with little light. Speaking of lowlight, the night shots are good of the main camera. Below are some sample shots to measure the camera’s performance.

Main rear camera samples: Top – daylight; Bottom – Lowlight (touch to expand)

Ultra wide camera samples: aunt – aunt of daylight. BottHip – Lowlight

3x Teleobjective samples: up – daylight. Bottom – Lowlight (touch to expand)

You can also go to our Galaxy S24 review to obtain more camera samples.

Samsung Galaxy S24+ Review: verdict

Before giving my final verdict, let’s talk about alternatives. The OnePlus 12 (review) is an excellent option with a larger screen, slightly better cameras, a Snapdragon 8 gen 3, a larger battery and a faster load. It is also cheaper than the Galaxy S24+. The Google Pixel 8 Pro (review) will offer a better camera performance in fixed images, the functions of the aggregates and a similar or better software experience. Again, Pixel 8 Pro is also cheaper and has a better teleobjective camera. It can also change to the iPhone 15 Plus, which, although it lacks a teleobjective camera, will offer battery and performance duration. Finally, you can also shoot at the Ultra Galaxy S23. It will provide better performance, a similar size screen, S-PEN support, a larger battery and better cameras. You can probably get the phone for approximately the same price as the Galaxy S24+.

As I mentioned at the beginning, the Galaxy Plus variant is generally neglected by consumers, since it only offers a larger screen and battery compared to the smaller S variant. While that may have been the case in recent years, the Galaxy S24+ changes things. Now get a better and brighter screen, improved construction quality, 12 GB of RAM as standard and seven years of software updates. Now it is closer to the Ultra Galaxy S24 in terms of specifications and, therefore, it is a better purchase if you want to save some money and are not particularly interested in the best cameras offered by the Ultra, but you want a screen and a battery bigger.
