Jammu and Kashmira did the unthinkable when they defeated the defense champions Mumbai in their shock of the sixth round in the continuous Ranji Trophy 2024-25 in the BKC Ground on Saturday. Pursuing 205 to win in the fourth tickets, Jammu and Cashmiro rushed home in 49 overs with five WICKETS in their hand.
In particular, Mumbai had characters like the captain of India Rohit Sharma, Yashavi Jaiswal, Shreyas Iyer, Ajinkya Rahane, Shivam Dube and Shardul Thakur in his alignment full of stars. It was also Ranji Trophy’s first game of Rohit Sharma after 2015.
With this victory, Jammu and Kashmira ran to the top of Group A with 29 points of six games. Mumbai is the third with 22 points of the same number of games. Mumbai was surprised when they were removed for the insignificant 120 in the first tickets, before Jammu and Kashmir Post 206, thus taking an advantage of the first entries of 86 races.
The superior order of Mumbai once again collapsed in the second tickets before the brilliant 119 of Shardul Thakur and the 62 of Tanush Kotian raised the hosts of 101/7 at one stage to a respectable 290.
With 205 races to win in the fourth entrance, Shubham Khajuria (45), Vivrant Sharma (38) and the undefeated 32 of Abid Mushtaq helped Jammu and Kashmir to write their most memorable victory in their history. Shams Mulani took four Wickets for Mumbai in second entry.
The party caught the eye balloons due to the participation of the usual clients of India after its Border-Gavavar trophy debacle earlier this month. While Rohit Sharma achieved 31, Yashavi Jaiswal could accumulate only 30 minutes.
The IPL Abdul Samad star (24 of 20 balls) broke five limits, but it was left -handed ABID MUSHTAQ who finished the game with a couple of large six of Kotian. The Indian pattern Rohit Sharma was seen praising the players of Jammu and Kashmira, even while trying to hide their disappointment.
