Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, and his American counterpart Pete Hegseth agreed on Thursday to work in a 10-year comprehensive frame and industrial.
Singh said Hegseth reviewed several aspects of bilateral defense ties in a telephone conversation that took place less than a week before the planned trip of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Washington.
It was the first Telefónica de Singh conversation with Hegseth after he was confirmed as Secretary of Defense of the United States on January 25.
An Indian reading of the conversation said that India and the United States agreed to work together to write an integral framework on defense cooperation, aimed at structuring bilateral collaboration for the 2025-2035 period.

“We review the current defense cooperation and explore ways and means to expand and deepen the bilateral defense relationship of India-United States,” he said.
“We also agreed to draw an ambitious agenda that includes operational, intelligence, logistics and defense cooperation.” “We hope to work closely with Secretary Hegseth,” added Singh.
Modi and the president of the United States, Donald Trump, during a telephone conversation on January 27, promised to work towards a “reliable” association with an focus on promoting the cooperation of India-United States united in the areas of Commerce, Energy and Defense .

In the reading, the Ministry of Defense said that Singh and Hegseth appreciated the “remarkable expansion” of the United Indian Defense Association and reaffirmed their commitment to deepen the ties.
“In particular, the two ministers decided to work together in technological cooperation, the integration of industrial supply chains, improved interoperability, logistics and information exchange and joint military exercises,” he said.
“They also agreed to provide greater support for the growing collaboration of defense innovation among governments, new companies, companies and academic institutions,” he said.

The increase in bilateral defense ties is expected to be one of the areas of key approach to Modi and Trump in Washington DC.
According to the plan, Modi will travel to Washington DC after concluding his two -day visit to Paris.
The prime minister is expected to land in the US capital on the night of February 12 and Trump is expected to make the conversations the next day.
It would be the first bilateral visit of the United States to the United States after Trump assumed the presidency for a second term on January 20 after his impressive electoral victory in November.
India-United States Defense Cooperation has been suddenly in recent years.
In June 2016, the USA appointed India as a “great defense partner” racing the way to share critical military teams and technology.
The two countries have also signed key defense and security pacts in recent years, including the memorandum of Logistics Exchange Agreement (Lemoa) in 2016 that allows their military to use the foundations of others to repair and recover supplies.
The two parties also signed Comcasa (communications compatibility and security agreement) in 2018 that establishes interoperability between the two military and provides the sale of high -end technology from the United States to India.
In October 2020, India and the United States sealed the scholarship (basic exchange and cooperation agreement) to further boost bilateral defense ties. The PACT provides the exchange of high -end military technology, logistics and geospatial maps between the two countries.
