Usaid work cut: The Trump administration is advancing with a plan to reduce the staff around the world for the projects of the International Development Agency (USAID) by reducing less than 300 employees of the current figure of 8,000 contracts and direct contractors. In particular, the current force of the USAID staff, together with 5,000 international employees hired locally abroad, direct some programs that save lives that the Administration says it intends to continue for time. The Trump administration presented a plan on Thursday that aims to make a dramatic cut in the number of personnel working in association with USAID.
This is what USAID employees said
Speaking under anonymity, two current USAID employees and a former Usaid high -rank official told The Associated Press of the Administration Plan, presented to the senior officials of the remaining agency on Thursday. Currently, the Trump administration has banned USAID employees to talk to anyone outside their agency.
On his first day in office, the president of the United States, Donald Trump, implemented a 90 -day freezing in foreign assistance. Four days later, Peter Marocco, a designated politician who returns from Trump’s first mandate, in a tougher interpretation of Trump’s order, revealed a movement that closed thousands of programs worldwide and forced permits and layoffs.
USAID officials licensed, fired contractors
After the order, dozens of senior officials were pressed, thousands of dismissed contractors and were told employees on Monday that they do not enter their Washington headquarters. And the USAID website and its account on platform X have been eliminated.
On Monday, the Democrats of Congress were denied the entrance to the USAID building when federal law agents blocked the doors, restricting the access of legislators even to the public lobby of the agency’s headquarters. The measure occurs after the Democrats attacked Elon Musk and the members of their task force Dugo for demanding and obtaining access to internal government systems despite not being an official government agency.
