YSRCP leader Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy.
Prakasam district police officials issued notices to YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy at his party office in Ongole on Wednesday. The notices were related to five cases, including three registered in Yerragondapalem, one each in Peddaraveedu and Dornala, for alleged violations of the election code during the 2024 general elections.
According to Yerragondapalem police, the former MLA of Chandragiri threatened the Returning Officer and violated the Model Code of Conduct during the election campaigning period. The cases were registered under several sections, including 506 (crime of criminal intimidation) and 188 (disobeying an order from a public servant) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Mr. Chevireddy contested as the MP candidate of YSRCP from Ongole in 2024 elections, but lost. He was also accused of violating the election code in the surrounding villages Peddaraveedu and Dornala while campaigning for the elections with another YSRCP leader Chandra Sekhar Tatiparthi, who won the MLA seat in Yerragondapalem.
