POCSO case: Top priority for quick investigation, says Vizianagaram SP Vakul Jindal

Vizianagaram Superintendent of Police Vakul Jindal on Thursday (March 13, 2025) directed all State House Officers and other officials concerned to give top priority for quick investigation in cases filed under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.-2012.

Speaking to The Hindu in Vizianagaram, SP Vakul Jindal said the Department could ensure conviction for an accused person within 4.5 months in the district. According to him, the accused Vijinigiri Ravi of Kotarubilli village of Gantyada mandal of Vizianagaram district was convicted for 25 years after his guilt was proved in the rape of a 3.5 years old girl.

“The ghastly incident took place on October 27, 2024 and conviction was finalised in the court on March 10, 2025. It happened with the quick collection of evidences and submission in the court of law. More than ten accused persons were convicted in the last one year under POCSO Act with the quick and prompt investigation. SHOs were suggested to study previous cases for quick completion of investigation in accordance to rules and regulations,” said Mr. Jindal.
