Denver Airport Fire: The fire erupted on the passenger plane that was parked at Gate C38 of the Colorado airport
An American Airlines plane caught fire at Denver International Airport, forcing passengers to evacuate. The fire broke out on the plane parked at Gate C38, sending plumes of black smoke into the air.
“Passengers were evacuated and the slides were deployed,” the airport said.
Videos widely shared on social media showed flames and smoke consuming the aircraft as airport crews worked to extinguish the blaze.
Another video from inside the airport showed passengers standing on the wing of the aircraft as smoke billowed while airport crews tried to evacuate them.
The flight had made an emergency landing in Denver after the crew reported engine vibrations mid-flight. As the plane taxied to the gate, an engine caught fire, forcing an evacuation via slides. However, no injuries were reported.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) launched an investigation into the incident, which comes amid growing concerns over aviation safety.
