Pat Cummins and Josh Hazelwood added to the long list of injuries, since Australia will miss the duo in the next ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the Australian Cricket announced Thursday. The development comes the day when the SUV Marcus Stainis announced his withdrawal of ODI with immediate effect. In particular, Marcus Stainis was part of the Australian Champions Trophy team.
Pat Cummins, who did not play the evidence against Sri Lanka, has not yet recovered from the ankle that frustrated him during the end of Gavaskar’s border trophy against India, while Josh Hazlewood is still recovering from a tension in the calf.
The last time Josh Hazlewood played an international game was against India in the third DraIDed test in Brisbane. Previously, Mitchell Marsh was discarded from the Champions Trophy due to a back injury.
“Unfortunately, Pat, Josh and Mitch are managing some ongoing injuries and have not arrived in time for the Champions Trophy,” said the president of the National Team Panel, George Bailey on Thursday.
“Although disappointing, it presents a great opportunity for other players to work for Australia in a world event,” Bailey said. In the absence of Pat Cummins, Steve Smith or Travis Head will lead.
