The young Pakistan starter, Saim Ayub, has been discarded from the CPI champions trophy after a rehabilitation period of at least 10 weeks to recover from an ankle injury. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said Friday that Saim, who suffered the injury in South Africa in January, is “progressing well in its recovery of the ankle fracture and will continue its rehabilitation in England.” “After integral magnetic resonance scans, radiographs and medical evaluations, SAIM has been discarded for 10 weeks from the lesion date (January 3),” said the PCB in a statement.
“Its availability for the New Zealand tour will be subject to the compensation of all physical aptitude tests and medical requirements.” Saim had suffered the injury while presenting the first day of the second test against South Africa in Cape Town.
Pakistan will travel New Zealand for five T20I and three hate from March 16 to April 5, to what will be followed by the Pakistan Super League from April 8.
