The Padma awards were announced on Saturday, and several prominent people were honored in several fields. Among the winners with the Bhushan Padma, the third highest civil prize in India, were the actors Anant Nag, Nandamuri Balakrishna, actor Tamil Ajith Kumar, the dancer and actress Shobhana and singer Pankaj Udhas (posthumously). The list also included the filmmaker Shekhar Kapur.
In the category of Padma Shri, Arijit Singh, the composer and musician Ricky Kej, and singer Jaspinder Narula, along with Barry Godfray John and others received recognition.
In the field of arts, the Padma Awards honored several artists, including Kumudini Rajnikant Lakhia, Lakshminarayana Subramaniam, Sharda Sinha (posthumously), Jatin Goswami and Adwaita Charan Gadanayak. Notable OTHER AWARDEES INCLUDE ACHYUT RAMCHANDRA PALAV, ASHOK LAXMAN SARAF, Ashwini Bhide Ubls Hu, Joynacharan Bathari, K omanakutty Amma, Madugula Nagaphani Sarma, Mahabir Nayak, Miriyala Basquee (posthumous), Naren Gurung, Nirmala Devi, P Datchanamoorthy, Pandi Ram Mandavi, Parmar Lavjibhai Nagjibhai, Radhakrishnan, Ranender Imoo, Shyam Bihari Bihari Agrawal Narayan Majumdar, Thiyam Suryamukhi Devi, Vasudeo Kamath, Velu Aasaan and Venkappa Ambaji Sugatekar.
The Vibhushan Padma, the second highest civil prize in India, was posthumously awarded to the renowned Malayalam writer Mt Vasudevan Nair, who died in December 2024. The folk singer Sharda Sinha, who also died last year, was honored with the Padma Vibhushan for his contribution to music people.
