The Unforgettable Legacy of a Scholarly Luminary
In the heart of the city’s academic landscape, a beacon of knowledge has dimmed. Repaka Lakshmi Reddy, a revered academic from the hallowed halls of Nizam College, transitioned peacefully on a somber Sunday morning, leaving an enduring legacy that will reverberate for generations to come.
Her life, spanning nine vibrant decades, was dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge and the nurturing of young minds. She leaves behind two sons, Sidharth and Vivek, who carry the mantle of her academic brilliance with pride.
Beyond her academic prowess, Lakshmi Reddy was a guardian of Hyderabad’s linguistic and cultural heritage. As Nizam’s trustee for his Urdu libraries, she tirelessly curated and preserved a treasure trove of knowledge. Her five seminal works on Deccan history illuminated the region’s rich tapestry, unearthing its hidden narratives and shaping our understanding of its past.
Her passion extended beyond the library’s walls. As a founding member and later president of the Nizam College Past Students Association, she fostered a vibrant community of alumni, inspiring them to uphold the college’s legacy of excellence.
“Professor Lakshmi Reddy’s lectures were not mere lessons but voyages of discovery,” remarked Susheel Dhanasri, a student from Nizam College’s hallowed halls. “Her unparalleled grasp of history and politics ignited a fire in our hearts.”
Md Ayub Mujahid, secretary of the Nizam College Past Students Association, echoed this sentiment. “Her contributions to academia and our beloved association are a testament to an unmatched dedication and an enduring legacy,” he said.
As her final journey concludes at the Vaikunta Mahaprasthanam Crematorium, the city bids farewell to an exceptional scholar whose brilliance will continue to inspire and illuminate the path of knowledge forever.
