In an unfortunate incident, nine Indian nationals were killed in a traffic accident near Jizan in western Saudi Arabia, the Indian mission in Jeddah said Wednesday. In a position in X, the Indian consulate said: “We deeply regret the tragic loss of 9 Indian nationals in a road accident, near Jizan, in the western region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”
The mission said that the General Consulate of India in Jeddah has been providing total support and is in contact with the authorities and families. Others have also been injured in the accident. Indian Consulate said: “We also want a rapid recovery to the injured. A dedicated aid line for new consultations has been established.”
In reaction to the position, the Minister of External Affairs, S Jaishankar, said he was “afflicted” when learning about accident and loss of lives. Jaishankar cited the consulate’s post and said: “He spoke with our general consul in Jeddah, who is in contact with worried families. He is extending maximum support in this tragic situation.”
