Hubballi (Karnataka):
A 40 -year -old man committed suicide at home, supposedly due to his wife’s harassment, police said Monday.
The incident occurred in Chamundeshwari Nagar on Sunday, they said.
Petaru Gollapalli, who worked in a private company, left a suicide note alleging harassment by his wife.
Preliminary research has revealed that the couple married two years ago and began to live separately after three months of marriage after frequent disputes. His wife also requested divorce and demanded 20 Lakh rupees as an alimony.
Speaking to the journalists, the victim’s brother, Eshayya, said that as was Sunday, everyone had gone to the church and when they returned home in the afternoon he found his brother hung.
In the suicide note, Petaru held his wife responsible for his death and said: “Dad, sorry. My wife is killing me. He wants my death.”
In search of justice for his brother, Eshayya said that Petaru worked in a private company, but lost his job three months ago.
“We want justice for my brother. That woman (the wife of the deceased) must be arrested. No one should suffer as my brother suffered. His older brother had also hit him and there is also a police report about it,” he added.
From a complaint from the victim’s brother, a case has been registered against his wife in accordance with article 108 (suicide incitement) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, police said, adding that more investigations are being carried out.
Last month, a 34 -year -old technician, Atul Subhash, committed suicide in Bengaluru after an alleged harassment by his wife and family.
