The Government signed on Saturday a contract of ₹ 624-CORE with Bharat Electronics Limited for the acquisition of 28 key systems for 11 new generation offshore patrol vessels and three cadet training ships for the Indian Navy, said the Ministry of Defense.
This is in line with the vision of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ of the government, he said.
The Ministry of Defense, in a statement, said it signed the contract with Bharat Electronics Limited in New Delhi for “acquisition of 28 EON-51 systems for 11 new generation offshore patrol vessels and three cadet training ships for the Navy India in a total cost of ₹ 642.17 million rupees, including taxes under the purchase category (Indio-IDDM) “.
EON-51 is an electrooptic fire control system that provides search, detection and classification of objectives using electrooptic devices and thermal images, he said.
“The scheme will generate employment for a three -year period and encourage the active participation of several Indian industries, including MSME, contributing significantly to government efforts to achieve ‘Aatmanirbharta’ in defense,” said the ministry.
