The state budget 2025-26 declared that the Kerala State Housing Board (KSHB) awaits an income of around ₹ 3,650 million rupees of the venture proposal of the Eco Marine city in Marine Drive in the heart of Kochi. However, concerns persist about the future of the Housing Board.
“Revenue expectations do not give bread on the table,” said PS MANJ, coordinator of the KSHB retiree forum, about the ambitious project budget ad, which has been long. He said that retirees received their pension this month only after protests and threats, and for the coming months, both employees and retirees keep their fingers.
The Marine Eco City project is being implemented by the National Building Construction Corporation and implies an expense of around ₹ 2.4 billion rupees. The project includes residential and commercial complexes in 17.9 land acres in Marine Drive in Kochi, owned by the Housing Board.
The project will have 3BHK and 4BHK residential units, commercial and office spaces, large car parking lots, a conventions and hotels center with a green belt.
Mr. Loj also said that the Budget announcement in the Griha Shree housing program offers nothing new. In previous years, the scheme has seen few makers. According to the budget, the project implies providing a subsidy of up to ₹ 3 Lakh for financially weaker groups to build their own houses.
