Congress leader M. Lakshmana has urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to establish a regional unit of Karnataka State Industrial Security Force (KSISF) in Mysuru region.

Mr. Lakshmana pointed out that over 400 officers and personnel from the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd battalions of KSISF were currently serving in Mysuru airport, KRS reservoir, Infosys, and other areas of Mysuru region.

However, in the absence of a regional headquarters in Mysuru, the KSISF officials and personnel have to co-ordinate with the existing regional units in either Shivamogga, Dharwad, or Bengaluru. The establishment of a regional unit of KSISF will help the officials and personnel, he said.

Once the regional unit of KSISF is created in Mysuru, the existing personnel can be reassigned to the newly created unit. Recruitment for additional officers and personnel can be carried out gradually over the next two years without incurring any financial burden, he said.

In a letter to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, copies of which were shared with the media, Mr. Lakshmana said a portion of the old city Police Commissioner’s office or the old Deputy Commissioner’s office or any other vacant government buildings in Mysuru can be utilised as the KSISF’s regional unit office, thereby preventing any additional financial burden on infrastructure creation.

Also, the officers and personnel presently serving in Mysuru region were residing in vacant police quarters, which will also help eliminate the need for additional housing facilities. Hence, establishing a KSISF regional unit in Mysuru will not incur any financial burden on the government, he said.

He said most of the MLAs and MPs from the region had submitted a written request for establishing a KSISF regional unit in Mysuru. Claiming that the State police had also approved the request and forwarded the same to the Home Secretary, Mr. Lakshmana said he was hopeful of the State government establishing a regional unit of KSISF in Mysuru soon.

In the letter to Mr. Siddaramaiah, Mr. Lakshmana said around ₹1,100 crore had been allocated to Mysuru for 24 projects during the financial year 2025-26. During his earlier tenure as Chief Minister, the Congress leader said Mr. Siddaramaiah had sanctioned projects worth ₹3,800 crore for Mysuru and said the people of Mysuru will remember his contributions in the years to come.
