In his second year as host, the territory of the Union of Ladakh ended at the top of the Indian Khelo 2025 Winter Games, whose first chapter ended at the NDS stadium on Monday. As always, in the grand finale the delicious male ulter of ice hockey and the Indian army beat the ITBP 2-1 to retain the Kiwg crown. The second and final phase of Kiwg 2025 will take place in Gulmarg de J & K from February 22 to 25.

Ladakh won two of the four gold medals decided on Monday. Its mixed relay quartet, formed by Stanzin Jampal, Skarma Tsultim, Mohammed Saquaf Raza and Padma Angmo, recorded 3: 02.19 seconds to get gold. Maharashtra (3: 03.78 seconds) and Telangana (3: 04.85 seconds) won silver and bronze, respectively.

There was more joy for the local fans. In what was a sweet revenge, Ladakh’s girls exceeded the imagined ITBP to end at the top of the Women’s League of all against all in a complex full of the NDS stadium. The female ice hockey began last year and, curiously, Ladakh lost the last game against ITBP for a 4-0 score. Himachal Pradesh won the bronze.

“It feels incredible and is a great moment for our team. Last year we lost to ITBP, but this year we achieved a strong comeback. A huge thanks to our coach and the administration of Khelo India for bringing this event to Ladakh and doing this possible for us, ”said Padma Chorol, a senior member of the Women’s Ice Hockey team of Ut Ladakh.

Tamil Nadu demonstrated why he is emerging as a centers for budding skaters. In the final skating event on Monday, the 500 m female long track (in Gupuks), Yashashree won the third gold of Tamil Nadu in Kiwg 2025. He recorded 00: 58.00 seconds. Riya Vilas Gayakwad de Maharashtra (1: 04.31 seconds) and Srija S. Rao de Karnataka (1: 04.93 seconds) won silver and bronze, respectively, in the most adjusted end.

The winners of the Kiwg 2025, Ladakh (7 medals, including four gold), were followed by Tamil Nadu (five medals, including three gold). Maharashtra ended with the maximum number of medals (10), but only two gold medals meant that third parties ended. Maharashtra ended at the top at Kiwg 2024, winning 20 skating medals, including six gold. Telangana (2 gold) finished fourth and karnataka (1 gold) fifth in Kiwg 2025.

The army defended its ice hockey crown, but only after surviving some difficult moments. Backed by their young and noisy fans of the Center for the Ladakh Explorers, who sang a popular Bollywood success of the film Dilwale Dulhaniya Jayege, the army team seemed loaded from the first minute. Monday’s victory was sweeter because Army had lost to ITBP 3-1 in a League match on Saturday.

In the final of Monday there were no goals in the first two periods and the three goals arrived in the last 15 minutes of play. It was a quick match between two professional teams that had several national players.

Army was advanced in the third minute of the last time. Rigzin Norbalo crowned excellent assistance from the national player Dorjay Angchok to give Army the advantage with an intelligent auction in the second stick. Army lost the advantage after Rigzin Norbalo, unmarked, tied for ITBP with an assistance from Tashi Namgail in the 13th minute Army when a minute was missing in the clock.

The army coach, Rinchen Tundup, told Sai Media: “Our team has been playing matches in a row, starting with the CEC Cup, then the LG Cup and now Khelo India. We didn’t have much time to practice, but I’m glad the team has had a good performance. We have won the three glasses and I am happy with your performance. I also want to thank ITBP team for providing us with a hard competition in today’s final. “
