Our favorite food in the world? Biryani, of course. The dish loaded with spices and with the soul can transport you directly to the sky of the food with just one bite. What if it comes with crispy and gold chicken with gold brown to the one side? Well, nothing can overcome that. The aroma of slow rice infused with saffron and ghee, the tender meat that falls from the bone, the explosion of spices in the tongue, is pure magic. Whether it is a simple celebration or desire, Biryani is the answer to everything. So imagine yearning that delicious dish of goodness but serve something completely different. That is exactly what happened to Little Shanku.

Little Shanku, like many of us, has a deep love for Biryani. However, its Anganwadi (Child Care Center administered by the Government) serves UPMA instead. Disappointed but hopeful, he wished out loud by “Birnani” (his adorable erroneous pronunciation of Biryani) and “Poricha Kozhi”(Chicken Fry). His mother, fun for his sincere request, captured the moment and shared it on social networks. And so, the Internet fell in love with Shanku.
In the video now viral, Little Shanku is seen with a small helmet, apparently in the middle of a game session with his bicycle. But even in the midst of his adventures, his priorities were clear: “I need ‘Birnani’ and ‘Poricha Kozhi‘In the Anganwadi instead of UPMA. “
The video went viral, with the users of social networks fainting for the innocent child’s supplication.
Many not only found their adorable application, but also backed it with all my heart, even labeling the state government to take measures. And guess what? Someone important realized.
The Minister of Health, women and the child development of Kerala, Veena George, was one of those who saw the video. Delighted by Little Shanku, he announced that the Anganwadi menu would be reviewed and that Biryani would be included. Mrs. George also extended her warm wishes to Shanku, her mother and Anganwadi’s staff. “The menu will be reviewed, taking into account Shanku’s suggestion,” he said.
The minister explained that the main objective of Anganwadi’s meals is to provide children with nutritious foods. He pointed out that under the current government, a scheme that offers eggs and milk through Anganwadis has already been successfully implemented. In addition, local bodies, in collaboration with the Department of Women and Child Development, strive to provide diverse and healthy meals to children.
Later, his mother shared that since the video won traction, numerous people approached, eager to meet Shanku’s desire. “People saw the video and called us, offering Biryani and Chicken Fry for Shanku,” he told a news channel.
And so, what began as the simple desire of a child became a movement. A small application, a support wave, and now, the possibility of the Anganwadi menus of Biryani Gracing, proof that sometimes, everything that is needed is a small voice (and much love for food) to mark a large difference.
