The general secretary of the State of the State of the Indian Union (Iuml) Kerala, PMA Salam, seems to have moved the pot and has put the land for a heated social debate by stating that gender equality was “a lack of lack.”

Mr. Salam’s comment to journalists in Malappuram on Wednesday (January 29, 2025) assumed a measure of socio-political importance in the context of the controversy around the combination of multiple “neutral” gender-7 exercises (MEC-7 ) that it seemed to have gained some fashion in northern Kerala despite the doctrinal opposition of the influential Muslim social organizations.

In particular, Sunita Kanthapuram leader AP ABOOBKER MUSLIAR, a leading Muslim clergyman, had recently noticed that such practices that “compromise women’s modesty” were against the principles of Islam.

When seen in the context of the dispute on MEC 7, Mr. Salam seemed to underline the iuml line on the subject.

Mr. Salam described the posture of the unequivocal Iuml. “Women and men require social and gender justice to the same extent. The Iuml Champions Gender Justice, not gender equality, ”he added.

Salam said those who announce gender equality were chasing a chimera. He pointed out that public transport buses had seats specially reserved for women. In educational institutions, male and female students sat separately. “In the Olympic Games, men and women competed separately,” he said.

Later, speaking with The HinduMr. Salam said he would clarify the posture of the iuml in the afternoon.

Last week, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] The Secretary of State MV Govindan had called the opposition to gender equality in any sphere of human activity as Revanchist.

The Communist Party of India (CPI) wrote an opinion article in its nozzle, Janayugamopposing the “divisive tendency to mix religion in everything” against the backdrop of the MEC-7 controversy.

At the beginning of January, Congress had pointed out its line about the MEC-7 dispute. K. Sreekandan, the deputy of the Palakkad party, inaugurated a local client chapter.

In contrast, the state president of the Bharatiya Janata party (BJP), K. Southern, had affirmed last week that the “anti-informed forces” were using MEC-7 as a cover to recruit impressive people to their radical cause.

CPI (M) District Secretary, Kannur, N. Mohanan, who touched a similar line, retracted his statement.

The former president of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), VM Sudheeran, said he had not heard the words of Mr. Salam and would not risk a comment at the current situation. The president of the State of the Youth Congress, Rahul Mamkotathil, MLA, touched a similar note.
