A day after the president of the United States, Donald Trump, announced that the United States would leave the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), Israel has also announced its withdrawal. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar confirmed on Wednesday that Israel would no longer sit at the UNHRC table. He praised the decision of the United States, saying that he is in the right direction.

“Israel welcomes President Trump’s decision not to participate in the UN Human Rights Council. Israel joins the United States and will not participate in the Ancrc, ”Sa’ar wrote in X (previously Twitter).

Israel alleges prejudices in UNHRC

Sa’ar accused the UNHRC of bias against Israel, claiming that the Council protects human rights abusers while unfairly attacking Israel. This body has focused on attacking a democratic country and spreading anti -Semitism, instead of promoting human rights, “he said.

He also said that Israel is disproportionately convicted in the ANCRC, pointing out more than 100 resolutions against Israel, which represent more than 20 percent of all resolutions approved by the Council.

Trump announces the withdrawal of the United States

Trump declared the United States withdrawal from the United Nations Aid and Works Agency (UNRWA), claiming alleged links between UNRWA and Hamas.

“The United States withdrew from the UN Anti -Semitic Council of Human Rights and ended support for the agency of relief and works of the UN, which channeled Money to Hamas,” Trump said during a joint press conference with the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington, DC.

Trump also promised to restore maximum pressure on Iran, again imposing strict sanctions to cut Iranian oil exports and reduce Tehran’s financial support for militant groups.

The Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, is in the United States to discuss the agreement of Alto El Fuego de Gaza and the security of the Middle East with Trump. He will meet with American military officials and leaders of Congress in the next few days.

At the joint press conference, he reformulated the strength of ties between the United States and Israel when he declared: “The ties of friendship between the American and Israeli people have suffered for generations, and are absolutely unwavering.”
