The IQOO Z9X was first announced in China in April 2024. The device was launched together with the IQOO Z9 Turbo Premium and the IQOO Z9 budget and was destined to be an initial 5G intelligent phone for the masses. Before this, the Chinese smartphone brand had already launched the IQOO Z9 in India, which was an adequate budget intelligent phone with a price of RS. 19,999. As complicated as this Chinese Indian launch timeline sounds, Iqoo has finally brought its Z9X model to the country. I have been using it for a few days and here are my first impressions.
The phone has a price of RS. 12,999 in India. There are several variants to choose from and this is what allows this phone price (which seems well specified for a budget smartphone) is so low. Fortunately, all variants offer the same 128 GB of storage. The base model that has a price of RS. 12,999 comes with 4 GB of RAM, while the medium level offer with 6 GB of RAM has a price of RS. 14,499. The frontline variant offers 8 GB of RAM for RS. 15,999.
The IQOO Z9X only has an accessible rear camera for the user
The phone design really does not stand out in the gray colored storm we receive. Its frame and rear panel are made of plastic, with a screen made of glass. It has flat sides and a plane rear panel that felt very similar to Redmi 13c 5g that I checked recently, but was released at the end of last year. The design of the camera module seems to be a mixture of the IQOO NEO 9 PRO and the IQOO 12 Premium. The bezels on the Full-HD+ 6,72-inch LCD screen are quite thin and the panel is flat. The screen offers an 120Hz update rate and also offers a 240Hz tactile sampling rate that must be used while playing.
What stands out of its design is its IP classification. IQOO states that the phone offers an IP64 rating for dust resistance and water, which is impressive for a budget smartphone. The phone also offers dual stereo speakers that should make games and video transmission immersive.

The phone mainly offers an accessible camera for the user. That would be the Primary Chamber of 50 Megapixels that is accompanied by a depth sensor of 2 megapixels, which is used for its portrait mode. Selfies duties are managed by a humble 8 megapixel chamber.
The IQOO Z9X works with the Fontouch OS 14 of IQOO, which is based on Android 14. Although it worked without problems, it comes with several pre -installed third parties applications. The telephone works with a 1 Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 SOC with a maximum 2.2GHz watch speed, but it is a bit outdated, since it was launched in 2022. However, it should be sufficient for the basic 5G initial telephone requirements.

The device works with a 6,000 mAh battery, but unlike most smartphones at this price, we are glad to see the 44w Wired load. The charger also comes in the box.
The IQoo Z9X surely seems to raise the bar when it comes to verifying the boxes on a 5G budget intelligent phone. However, as we have seen with each 5G budget smartphone in the past, the approach has always been to offer a 5G fluid experience by ignoring the camera’s performance and software optimization.
