IQOO Z9 review

Iqoo launched the NEO 9 Pro in February, followed by the IQOO Z9 more affordable last month. The latter offers some of the best average range specifications in the segment. We have spent some time testing the daily performance of IQOO Z9, the quality of the camera and the battery resistance. This phone competes with other smartphones around RS. 20,000 brands in India, such as Realme 12+ 5G and Moto G84 5G, as well as the honor X9B and nothing more expensive.

IQOO Z9 Price in India

The price of the IQOO Z9 in India is established in RS. 19,999 for the base model, which has 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of built -in storage. The company also offers the phone in a 256 GB storage variant, this is the model that I have reviewed, which costs RS. 21,999.

The phone is available in brushed green and graphene blue in India. Like the other smartphones of the company, the IQOO Z9 comes with a transparent TPU box, an executor SIM tool, a 44W load brick and a USB type A cable to the USB type C.

IQOO Z9 review: Design

We received the brushed green variant of the IQOO Z9 for review. The phone has an interesting design with paint strokes that flow from the rear camera module to the bottom of the panel. There is a small IQoo logo located in the lower half, and there is no other visible brand.

In addition to the new pattern, the telephone rear panel has a surprising resemblance to the IQOO Z7 PRO that was launched in India in August 2023, including the rear cameras aligned vertically located on a square chamber island with rounded edges and a brilliant metallic finish , which is a digital footprint magnet. The volume buttons are found on the right edge, on the ignition button.

Despite the 5,000 mAh battery inside, the phone does not feel too heavy in daily use. It has flat edges, which makes it easy to support. While it is not exactly slippery, it is probably better to use it with the TPU case that is sent with the phone. The Iqoo Z9 has thin bezels, except close to the chin. It has an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance.

IQOO Z9 review: Specifications and software

The IQOO Z9 works in a 7200 4NM dimensity of 4nm of eight nuclei that includes two Cortex-A715 nuclei of ARM recorded at 2.8 GHz and six Cortex-A510 nuclei. This medium medium -range chipset is combined with 8 GB of RAM LPDDR4X, and can enable an “extended RAM” that uses up to 8 GB of storage not used to carry the available storage of up to 16 GB.

This smartphone admits 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3 and GPS connectivity, along with a USB type C. port, however, it has no NFC connectivity, which means that you cannot use the tap-top functions available in applications such as Google Pay and Phonepe. The digital footprint scanner on receptive exhibition takes less than a second to unlock the phone.

The IQOO Z9 has a 6,67 -inch AMOLED screen that is brilliant enough for outdoor use

Fortunately, the IQOO Z9 is executed on Android 14 outside the box, along with Fontauch OS 14. Like the other smartphones of the company we recently reviewed: IQOO 12 and NEO 9 PRO, the operating system comes with the window V that will do everything possible to notify you about new applications to install. However, unlike those phones, you cannot disable the V window on this phone. The home screen also includes hot applications and hot games that ask you to install new applications and games.

According to the company, the telephone will obtain two operating system updates and three years of security updates, which is the COS the course of this price segment, with an exception: the Samsung Galaxy A15 promises four updates of the operating system and Five years of security updates. The IQOO Z9 has a 5,000 mAh battery and can be loaded to 44W through the adapter included.

IQOO Z9 review: performance

With the Dimensity 7200 chipset under the hood, the IQOO Z9 should theoretically offer the best performance for an intelligent medium range phone under RS. 20,000. In daily use, the phone is Zippy and allows you to change between applications without recharging them. It also presents a dedicated game mode that is found in the other phones of the company that optimizes performance while you are playing.

Games like Asphalt 9 work very well in the IQOO Z9, while titles such as Battlegrounds Mobile India can be played in the high environment with the prejustment without problems after about 45 minutes of play. I was able to run Genshin Impact on the IQOO Z9, but it was just something soft, even after selecting the lowest graphics configuration of the game.

We also execute some performance points in the IQOO Z9 and discover that it obtained a considerably higher score than other smartphones in this price segment. In Antutu 10, the phone scored 687,545 points, while its single -core and multiple cores scores in Geekbench were 1,151 and 2,669, respectively. In PCMark Work 3.0 Benchmark, the IQOO Z9 obtained 13,319 points.

IQOO Z9 performance points

The IQOO Z9 scored 6,654 points in the Honda and 5,766 shooting at the 3DMark tests. He managed to obtain 4.126 points and 4,205 points in the unlimited reference tests of Wild Life and Wild Life, respectively. Meanwhile, IQOO’s middle-rank telephone scored 6,058 points (108 fps) in the GFXBENCH T-Rex test, while Manhattan’s reference point 3.1 resulted in a score of 3702 points (60 fps), and the test of Automobile chase returned a lower score than 1,954 points (33 fps).

The headset looks a 6,67-inch Full-HD+ (1,080×2,400 pixels) AMOLED screen with an 120 Hz update rate with 394ppi pixels density and a maximum glow of 1800 nits. I faced some visibility problems in very bright lighting conditions, especially when I used the phone in the outdoor in the afternoon. There are three visualization profiles to choose from: standard, professional and brilliant. While this is a subjective option, I preferred to use the standard mode (default)

The 5,000 mAh battery in the IQOO Z9 allows you to go for several hours before you need to recharge the phone again. In our HD battery loop test, the phone lasted approximately 23 hours and 14 minutes. With a combination of games, capturing a handful of photos and videos, and approximately one hour of games, I had between 23 percent and 29 percent of the battery at the end of the day. After draining the battery, the phone took about 32 minutes to reach 50 percent and approximately 55 minutes for a full load.

IQOO Z9 review: cameras

The IQOO Z9 is equipped with a 50 megapixel primary chamber, a Sony IMX882 sensor with an opening F/1.8 and a depth sensor of 2 megapixels not specified with an opening F/2.4. The telephone has a 16 megapixel front camera with an opening F/2.0 for videos and video chats.

The images captured with the main camera are clear, and the colors are precisely shown when firing with the default zoom (1x). The camera interface allows you to quickly change to 2x, which seems to be a sensor crop that also offers images with ample details. This camera works well for human subjects, plants and pets. You can also click good images of portraits if there is enough natural light.

The IQOO Z9 captures detailed images when there is enough natural light

There is only one usable rear camera in the IQOO Z9, which works reliably during the day. However, if you are looking to capture images in low light conditions, it is better to use the built -in night mode. If your subject does not move, the night mode can offer much better shots than the default mode, reducing the amount of noise and artifacts without too much softening.

As there is no ultra wide camera, I found myself going back to click images of large subjects that were close to me, such as buildings. This is not a problem in most scenarios, but you can click on some complicated photos. Unlike similar phones in this price segment, the IQOO Z9 is not equipped with a macro camera to take foreground photos.

The built -in night mode does a good job in little light stages

The main camera also includes a 50 megapixel mode that takes quite fast images while delivering images with a higher resolution than standard mode. This mode is better used in subjects that are close and results in images that have more details and a slightly larger file size.

The selfies taken in the IQOO Z9 are clear and look good when there is enough lighting, which means that it should be well if you click on images of yourself during the day. In low light conditions, selfies captured by the phone contain some noise, and the images are not as clear as the phone tends to soften these images.

The 50 megapixel mode offers slightly better details for the subjects that are close

The IQOO Z9 video performance is on par with other smartphones in this price segment. You can record 1080P videos at 60 fps and 30 fps, while 4K videos can be recorded at 30 fps. It is worth noting that the 1080p/60FPS mode offers a better video stabilization compared to the 4K option, which was worthy compensation, in my opinion.

IQOO Z9 review: verdict

If you are looking for an affordable average intelligent phone with good performance and a decent photo quality, the IQOO Z9 is a good option to consider at this price. It offers a reliable battery life and has a brilliant AMOLED screen, while the processor definitely hits over its weight and compensates for UFS 2.2 storage less than ideal.

However, the telephone faces a tough smartphone competition such as Samsung Galaxy M34 last year, while the exynos 1280 processor of this phone is slower than that of the IQOO Z9, has a better quality of the camera and an experience of Software (subjectively), with longer software. Support window. Similarly, the Realme 12+ 5G has an additional ultra -wide angle chamber and admits a faster load at 67W.

There is also the little X6 5G, which offers a decent performance of the primary chamber and has a 5,100 mAh battery, although it comes with Android 13 of the box in 2024. If your budget is a little higher, you can also consider Nothing 2A phone, which presents a good primary camera and clean software. However, it does not come with a load brick inside the box, a problem that will not face the IQOO Z9.
