IQOO Z9 review: Design
We received the brushed green variant of the IQOO Z9 for review. The phone has an interesting design with paint strokes that flow from the rear camera module to the bottom of the panel. There is a small IQoo logo located in the lower half, and there is no other visible brand.

I was able to run Genshin Impact on the IQOO Z9, but it was just something soft, even after selecting the lowest graphics configuration of the game.

The IQOO Z9 is equipped with a 50 megapixel primary chamber, a Sony IMX882 sensor with an opening F/1.8 and a depth sensor of 2 megapixels not specified with an opening F/2.4. The telephone has a 16 megapixel front camera with an opening F/2.0 for videos and video chats.
The images captured with the main camera are clear, and the colors are precisely shown when firing with the default zoom (1x). As there is no ultra wide camera, I found myself going back to click images of large subjects that were close to me, such as buildings. This is not a problem in most scenarios, but you can click on some complicated photos. Unlike similar phones in this price segment, the IQOO Z9 is not equipped with a macro camera to take foreground photos.

The main camera also includes a 50 megapixel mode that takes quite fast images while delivering images with a higher resolution than standard mode. This mode is better used in subjects that are close and results in images that have more details and a slightly larger file size.
The selfies taken in the IQOO Z9 are clear and look good when there is enough lighting, which means that it should be well if you click on images of yourself during the day. In low light conditions, selfies captured by the phone contain some noise, and the images are not as clear as the phone tends to soften these images.
The 50 megapixel mode offers slightly better details for the subjects that are close
The IQOO Z9 video performance is on par with other smartphones in this price segment. You can record 1080P videos at 60 fps and 30 fps, while 4K videos can be recorded at 30 fps. It is worth noting that the 1080p/60FPS mode offers a better video stabilization compared to the 4K option, which was worthy compensation, in my opinion.
IQOO Z9 review: verdict
If you are looking for an affordable average intelligent phone with good performance and a decent photo quality, the IQOO Z9 is a good option to consider at this price. It offers a reliable battery life and has a brilliant AMOLED screen, while the processor definitely hits over its weight and compensates for UFS 2.2 storage less than ideal.
