With just a week left for the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) to begin, the franchises are in full swing with their preparations. All the franchises have announced their squad and their respective skippers.

There have been several players who got the opportunity to lead their franchise in an IPL season in the past 17 seasons. But only few of them got the opportunity to lead their franchise in an IPL season.

As few franchises are going with experienced players as skippers, others have given a chance to some new players to take charge in the upcoming season.

Looking at the stats compiled by InsideSport, Lucknow Super Giants have gone with the highest-paid skipper as Rishabh Pant for ₹27 crore, Kolkata Knight Riders chose Ajinkya Rahane for ₹1.5 crore.

Here’s a list of IPL captains’ salary:

Lucknow Super Giants: LSG bought Indian wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant for a whopping ₹27 crore during the IPL 2025 Auction, making him the costliest player in the history of IPL. He was appointed as LSG captain for IPL 2025.

Punjab Kings: PBKS bought IPL 2024 winning skipper Shreyas Iyer for a whopping ₹26.75 crore in the IPL 2025 auction. He was late appointed as the skipper for PBKS.

Sunrisers Hyderabad: SRH retained their skipper Pat Cummins for a whopping ₹18 crore. In the IPL 2024 auction, he was bought for a whopping ₹20.50 crore.

Chennai Super Kings: CSK has appointed Ruturaj Gaikwad for IPL 2025 season. For this, the CSK is paying Gaikwad a whopping ₹18 crore.

Rajasthan Royals: RR retained Sanju Samson as their skipper for IPL 2025 and they are paying ₹18 crore for this.

Delhi Capitals: DC appointed Axar Patel for ₹16.50 crore as their skipper for the IPL 2025 season.

Gujarat Titans: GT has retained Shubman Gill as its skipper for the IPL 2025 season. Gill will be paid ₹16.5 crore for the job.

Mumbai Indians: MI has retained Hardik Pandya as its captain for the IPL 2025 season. Pandya will be paid ₹16.35 crore for the job.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru: RCB has appointed Rajat Patidar as their skipper for the IPL 2025 season. Patidar will be paid ₹11 crore for the job.

Kolkata Knight Riders: The IPL 2024-winning franchise has appointed Ajinkya Rahane as its skipper for the IPL 2025 season. Rahane will be paid ₹1.5 crore for the job.
