The West Bengal Prime Minister, Mamata Banerjee, on Thursday (February 6, 2025) said that investment proposals were received by value of ₹ 4.40 Lakh Crore during the two -day Bengal Business Business Summit, 2025, emphasizing that the State remains the “safer and most intelligent” place to invest.

“We are very happy to share that we have received investment proposals worth 4.40.595 million rupees during this event,” said Prime Minister in the final BGBS 2025 session.

Ms. Banerjee announced that a total of 212 Memorandos of Comprehension (MOU) and Lists of intention in several sectors were signed, highlighting the prosperous investment climate of the State. He noted that approximately 5,000 delegates participated in the two -day commercial summit, which included 25 ambassadors and 200 foreign delegates from 40 countries, with representatives from 20 associated countries.

The Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS) 2025, which began on Wednesday, saw the presence of the main industrialists such as Mikesh Ambani, president of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL); Sajjan Jindal, president of JSW; Sanjiv Puri, president of ITC; Harshavardhan Neotia, president of the Ambuja Neotia group; and Sanjiv Goenka, president of the RP-Sanjiv Goenka group, among others. These prominent business leaders promised investments in the state and praised Prime Minister Mamata Banerje for their efforts to promote investments in Eastern India.

The president of RIL announced a proposed investment of ₹ 50,000 million rupees in Western Bengal for 2030, while the JSW group revealed plans to invest ₹ 16,000 million rupees to develop an energy project of 1,600 MW in Salboni. The Ambuja Neotia group proposed an investment of ₹ 15,000 million rupees, and the RP-Sanjiv Goenka group promised to invest ₹ 10,000 million rupees during the summit.

On the second day, the main minister announced an important OGC oil exploration project in Ashoknagar, North 24 Parganas.

“We have given 15 land acres in Re 1 to NGOs in Ashoknagar. They have successfully discovered oil and gas, which will be used commercially. We are supporting the NGOs initiative and we will also give mining oil leases. This will bring Bengal on the oil map of India, ”said Mrs. Banerjee the meeting.

Throughout the summit, Prime Minister Mamata Banerjee emphasized the initiatives of the social sector of his government. On Thursday, he highlighted the social progress of the State, noting that his government has released 1.72 million people from poverty in Western Bengal. He also mentioned that, in addition to cash incentive schemes, his government provides cycles to students and class IX tablets to XI class students in schools.

The Government of the Trinamool Congress, led by Prime Minister Banerjee, has been in power in Western Bengala during the last 13 years and has organized eight editions of the Global Business Summit of Bengala (BGBS), including the one that ended Thursday .

The principal minister also spoke about the investments proposed in the previous summits, stating that in the last seven editions of BGBS, investments worth 19 Lakh Crore have been made, of which the work during ₹ 13 Lakh Crore has been implemented in the land.

In the last edition of BGBS in 2023, investment proposals valued in ₹ 3.76 Lakh million rupees were received, demonstrating the constant growth of the state economy.
