When heading to an interactive session at Hansraj College of the University of Delhi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, S Jaishankar, described on Thursday to the president of the United States, Donald Trump as an “American nationalist”, and added that India will have to carry out a “foreign policy” outside the curriculum in the interest of India. He added that the United States gave a good treatment when he was traveling to the country to attend Trump’s swearing ceremony. Jaishankar added that India’s relationship with the United States is strong and Prime Minister Modi shares a good personal relationship with Trump.

He acknowledged that Trump’s policies could bring significant changes to world affairs, but said that India’s foreign policy would continue to be guided by national interest.

“Yes, he (Trump) will change many things, maybe some things will be out of the curriculum, but we have to carry out foreign policies outside the country’s interest plan,” he said, he added: “There may be some some Problems in which they differ, but there will be many areas where things will be in our shed. “

Jaishankar also emphasized the strong personal ties between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Trump, saying: “Our relationship with the United States is strong and Modi has a good personal relationship with Trump.” During the session, Jaishankar talked about the growing worldwide influence of India and changing perceptions about the country.

“Even non -Indians now say they are Indians, they think it will help them get a seat on a plane somewhere,” he said. Reflecting on his career, Jaishankar shared ideas about his transition from the academy and diplomacy to politics.
