India has reached the milestone of 100GW solar energy capacity, said the Minister of the Union, Pralhad Joshi, on Friday (February 7, 2025), which underlines the country’s goal of having a renewable energy capacity 500 GW for 2030.
“Under the visionary leadership of the honorable prime minister shri @narendramodi ji, India has achieved the historical milestone of the solar capacity of 100 GW. This achievement is driven by our relentless commitment to a cleaner and greener Energy of new renewables. In an X publication.
Previously, India had planned to have 175 GW of renewable energy capacity, including 100 GW Solar by 2022. But it could not be achieved due to the amazing impact of the pandemic that forced the imposition of lock restrictions.
According to the position in X, India added 2.82 GW of solar capacity during 2004-14 under the UPA regime. This compares with 100 GW during 2014-2025.
