The president of the United States, Donald Trump, described China, India and Brazil on Tuesday as “tremendous rates (s)” and said that his government would not allow such practice more time, emphasizing his commitment to put “United States first” .
In addition, he promised to impose tariffs on nations that “damage” the United States, specifically pointing to the three countries, which found members of the BRICS block increasingly influential, but recognized that they acted in their respective interests.
“We are going to put rates in external countries and people who really hurt us. Well … they refer to damage in the United States, but they basically want to make their country good, “Trump said while they were heading to the Republicans of the House of Representatives in a Retirement of Florida.
“China is a tremendous rate, and India, Brazil and many other countries. (But) we are not going to let that happen more … because we are going to put the United States first, “Trump said.
The comments occurred after Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated a telephone conversation with Trump on Monday, and emphasized his shared commitment to work together for peace and global stability. However, it is not clear if the tariffs were on the agenda during the phone call between both leaders.
It has emerged that Modi Prime Minister is likely to meet Trump in Washington, since next month.
The position of the president of the United States on India and rates is seen by many as controversies, especially since he criticized New Delhi, the largest commercial partner of the United States, as a “very large abuser” during his presidential campaign.
Trump reiterated his vision of creating a “very fair system” for “very quickly” to make the United States “richer and more powerful” resonate in statements he made after having sworn last week. He declared: “Instead of taxing our citizens to enrich other countries … Let’s tariff and tax foreign countries to enrich our citizens.”
Trump also declared that foreign companies, whether Indies, Chinese, Brazilians or others, could avoid these pronounced tariffs when choosing “build their plant here in the United States.”
