On the day of the brutal murder, Dylan was taken to the house by his grandmother.
According to a report in the New York Post, on the night of the alleged murder, Thomas informed Bush to his room under the pretext of the meeting before his holiday plans. However, the meeting became violent. According to prosecutors, Thomas attacked Bush with a knife, delivering a stab at the back of his neck. Bush, in a desperate attempt to save his life, fled through the house, leaving a trace of blood while Thomas persecuted him. The attack ended in the patio, where Thomas inflicted a fatal injury in cutting a bush’s neck.
After the attack with chill, Thomas called 999, claiming that Bush had “mental” and stabbed it. However, the prosecution argued that it was a premeditated assault. Judge Steyn described the murder as “particularly terrifying”, noting that Bush was attacked in his bedroom of whom he trusted.
The court also listened to Bush’s afflicted family and girlfriend. His sister, Catrin, described the murder as “barbarian and cruel”, while his father, John, said the family’s life had changed “deeply.” Bush’s girlfriend, she Jefferies spoke of losing the future they had planned together, calling him “the love of my life.”
While Thomas’s defense said he regretted not having sought psychiatric help, with evidence that he suggests that he had been psychotic for months before the murder.
According to the BBC report, after his arrest, Thomas told the officers that Jesus was and offered them “works with God.”
The South Wales Police described the attack as a betrayal not caused by someone that the victim had trusted.
